Global Internship Base Program

Anyone who is interested in learning about China’s social policy, local governance and community development is welcome to apply for the GIB program. Applicants should preferably have a social sciences / public policy backgroundand an excellent command of English.
Tuitions and Fees:

Application Fee: RMB 350, nonrefundable
Program Tuition: RMB 10,000
Tuition for the optional Chinese language course: RMB2,300 (40 credit hours)
Other Costs: Students are responsible for the costs of international travel, transportation between Beijing and the research sites, housing in Beijing and in Gansu, and other personal costs.

All courses and communication with faculty and staff are conducted in English. During the field research, GIB participants will mingle with bilingual Chinese college students who will help facilitate communications with local residents. However, applicants are strongly recommended to have conversational Chinese skills.

Housing and Inter-City Transportation
BNU may reserve on-campus double-bed dorms for your stay in Beijing. The costs are RMB 120 per bed per night. Reservations would be made for June 14 and July 9. Indicate your need for on-campus housing in your application or we will not be able to reserve beds for you. During your stay in Tianshui, we will book budget hotel rooms for you and estimated costs are RMB 200 per day.

We will take trains between Beijing and Tianshui. The costs for round-trip train tickets are about RMB 800. During the field research in Tianshui, you will need to take a bus from the city to your research sites (about 30 minutes one way) and the costs for round-trip bus tickets are RMB 6 per day.
