Master’s in Contemporary Development of China Receives EADI Accreditation

Following two years of communications and preparations, School of Social Development and Public Policy (SSDPP) welcomed accreditation team from the well-known development program accreditation organization known as EADI (European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes) from May 14-15 to evaluate and accredit the school’s international master program - Master’s in Contemporary Development of China (CDC).

The team of specialists met with the CDC program’s key supervisors, teaching professors, current and former students, administrators, and other relevant personnel for exchange and discussion. The team also reviewed a number of documents including administrative policies, teaching materials, syllabi, students’ final theses, the program self-evaluation report and external evaluation report, and students’ evaluation surveys. On the basis of this on-site evaluation and the past two years of communications, the team gave the CDC program a passing grade, affirming the quality of its design, course system, teaching faculty, and program administration. Additionally, the team believes that the CDC’s combining of international and Chinese views on the topic of development makes it distinct from development programs in Europe and the United States, giving it a special significance and worth.

The EADI accreditation aims to promote development research around the world. This is the first time a program in Asia has received EADI approval.
